Types of Focus Items
A focus item is an item that a Magician equips while casting their summon spells in order to increase the power of their summoned pets. Each type of elemental pet requires a specific type of focus item. If you have the proper focus item equipped when the pet is summoned, the following text will display, "Your (focus item name) begins to glow." Each focus item also has a clickable instant effect of Reclaim Energy, which does not require the item to be equipped. There are two types of focus items: Lesser Focus Items and Greater Focus Items.

In addition to the same change in appearance and hit points as their lesser counterparts, these staves provide a +1 level bonus to all summoned pets from spell levels 4-60. This allows for pets that can exceed the hit points, melee, and spell damage listed in the tables. For example, a focused max level Greater Vocaration: Water pet will hit for 70 and backstab for 210.

Value to Magicians and Non-Magicians
Obviously the main beneficiary of these items are Magicians, who will likely want to acquire all four. Each item effectively raises any pets generated from the item's element by one level in power.
However, even non-Magician pet classes (e.g., Necromancers, Shaman, and Druids) may wish to acquire one of these items. This is because, even though these items may only be wielded by Magicians, non-Magicians can right-click them from inventory to get instant and mana-free Reclaim Energy. The druid pet, which is particularly useless for combat, can be used as a mana battery. In situations where a druid anticipates that they will need more mana than available in their mana bar, the druid can summon a pet before battle, med to full, and reclaim the pet during battle to get an additional 600 mana.
Quest
The quest for each focus item just requires giving all four required items to Vira at 411, 91 
. Note that many of the items can be found on vendors (sold to them by players coming from wherever the item dropped).
